Optimising Electricity Real Time Pricing Tariffs
نویسنده
چکیده
Electricity Real Time Pricing (RTP) tariffs inter alia have Demand Side Management (DSM) as a main aim. Customers are billed according to hourly fluctuating energy prices. Essentially RTP pricing signals can be seen as control inputs to change customer load usage. It is suggested that optimised pricing signals sent to RTP customers can lead to a much more efficient DSM initiative. This paper describes the methodology followed, and results obtained, of such an optimisation process.

Agent-Based Modeling of Day-Ahead Real Time Pricing in a Pool-Based Electricity Market
In this paper, an agent-based structure of the electricity retail market is presented based on which day-ahead (DA) energy procurement for customers is modeled. Here, we focus on operation of only one Retail Energy Provider (REP) agent who purchases energy from DA pool-based wholesale market and offers DA real time tariffs to a group of its customers. As a model of customer response to the offe...
متن کاملDecentralised stable coalition formation among energy consumers in the smart grid (demonstration)
The vision of the Smart Grid includes demand-side peak shaving strategies, such as real-time pricing or profile’s based tariffs, to encourage consumption such that the peaks on demand are flattened. Up to date, most works along this line focused on optimising via scheduling of home appliances or micro-storage the individual user consumption. Alternatively, in this demonstration we propose to ex...
متن کاملDistributed Generation Dispatch Optimization under Various Electricity Tariffs
The on-site generation of electricity can offer building owners and occupiers financial benefits as well as social benefits such as reduced grid congestion, improved energy efficiency, and reduced greenhouse gas emissions. Combined heat and power (CHP), or cogeneration, systems make use of the waste heat from the generator for site heating needs. Real-time optimal dispatch of CHP systems is dif...
متن کاملTime-differentiated pricing and direct load control of residential electricity consumption
Time-of-use and real-time spot pricing tariffs in conjunction with direct load control of water heaters was offered to residential electricity consumers in a large-scale demand response experiment. Hourly data from the experiment on consumption, temperature, wind, and hours of daylight comprise a large panel data set, which are analysed with a fixed effects regression model. Price responses are...
متن کاملFairness and Dynamic Pricing: Comments
Introduction In “The Ethics of Dynamic Pricing,” Faruqui (Faruqui 2010) lays out a case for improved efficiency in using dynamic prices for retail electricity tariffs and addresses various issues about the distributional effects of alternative pricing mechanisms. The principal contrast is between flat or nearly constant energy prices and time-varying prices that reflect more closely the margina...
